The Edwards Law Group in Atlanta, GA witnesses huge gathering of LGBT community and celebrates The Supreme Court’s Friday declaration about same-sex couples
June 29th, 2015 Atlanta, GA – As the Supreme Court of The United States on Friday June 26th, 2015 delivered the historic judgment in favor of gay rights, ruling 5 to 4 that the Constitution requires that same-sex couples be allowed to marry no matter where they live, the LGBT community and their supporters have been rejoicing over this victory after struggling for many years.
The Edwards Law Group, that has been serving the LGBT community since its inception in 2006, also welcomed this historic ruling. A supportive community of friends and supporters gathered to celebrate in Atlanta, Georgia. Managing Partner and Owner of The Edwards Law Group, Ms V. Joy Edwards, was elated about this legal victory. Ms. Edwards is a well-known experienced Atlanta divorce attorney and an excellent litigator.
Ms. Edwards, herself a member of the community, said, “We knew it was important that members of the LGBT community had a non-judgmental place to go for legal representation regarding their domestic relations legal issues. Representing their clients with understanding, compassion, and open-mindedness, The Edwards Law Group was there through the bad times for so many families when the law gave them no place to turn.”
Though the community had been receiving support of sorts from celebrities, politicians, and others, but Ms Edwards demanded caution. Without mincing words, she said, “With this pivotal decision from the Supreme Court it is important that we remember though many may jump on the band wagon now that the gates are open for all, not every law firm was there in the bad times to make sure that our families had what they needed and got the protections they needed when the law did not provide for them.”
She took genuine pride in saying, “The Edwards Law Group was there with your families in the bad times and will continue to be there in the good times. As many persons in the LGBT community are aware, the laws in the State of Georgia very rarely protect the rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender persons living within the state.” However, she added, “ At The Edwards Law Group, it is our mission to provide the best legal care to all citizens of Georgia, regardless of their sexual orientation.”
Friday’s action of the Court marks the culmination of an unprecedented upheaval in the American society, the public, and the nation’s jurisprudence.
